Fair to people, Save the ocean and Give waste a new lifeRural and local collectors from Patagonia and southern Chile rescue fishing nets, ropes and metals that damage natural ecosystems. The collected waste becomes an additional source of income for them, which they use as seed capital to start and grow their own micro-businesses together with their families.

Natural, noble or recycled materials are collected, washed and converted into final products. In the case of plastic, nets are recycled with ECONYL®:  the nylon collected locally in Chile is regenerated into a plastic of the best quality on the market.

Karün offsets the carbon emissions that their operation and logistics produce, becoming a CarbonNeutral® Company. Every purchase contributes to the protection of the Puelo and Cochamó River Valleys in Northern Patagonia where Karün and its partner Balloon Latam carry out a 4-year program with a community of more than 600 entrepreneurs and their families.

Didactic postcard in sheep fiber, for adults and kids. An original gift for craft lovers that also trains cognitive and psychomotor skillsA combination of design, craftsmanship and representative landscapes from the chilean culture and identity, Kalofisha has sought to relieve the romanticism of writing a letter or a postcard: to feel the surprise of receiving it, to feel the smell and texture of a place, and certainly to feel the kilometers that it travelled to arrive to its destiny…

Llamas are domestic species of camelids. Their domestication has been going on for thousands of years, and it is common for indigenous peoples of the highlands of Peru, Bolivia and Chile to keep them by forming herds. Since at least 1,500 years before the first Spaniard set foot in America, llamas and alpacas provided, in much of the Andean region, meat food and the fibers derived from their fur used as raw materials in clothing and textile fabrics of designs that reflected their everyday lives: "a way of being and doing in the world."

Wool | One thread alpaca’s fiber, handspun with spindle, in natural colors.

Envelope | Kraft card stock of 16.0 x 10.5 cm, screen printed.

Postcard | Kraf card stock of 15.5 x 10.0 cm, screen printed.

Approximate weight 31 gr.

Your impact

More than just designing, Kalofisha cultivates a model that promotes good productive practices and exposes the territorial identity through the use of natural resources and traditional craftsmanship representative from the “Los Ríos” Region in Chile. The contemporary artisanal products are conceived through the sheep’s natural wool as predominant material.

Didactic postcard in sheep fiber, for adults and kids. An original gift for craft lovers that also trains cognitive and psychomotor skills A combination of design, craftsmanship and representative landscapes from the chilean culture and identity, Kalofisha has sought to relieve the romanticism of writing a letter or a postcard: to feel the surprise of receiving it, to feel the smell and texture of a place, and certainly to feel the kilometers that it travelled to arrive to its destiny…

Ofisha means Sheep in Mapuzugún, the native language of the Mapuche people, originally from southern Chile. Sheep is a ruminant mammal and throughout Chile it is common to see criollo sheep breeding, breeds very typical of South America, which descend from sheep brought by Spaniards during the 16th century, and which with the passage of time have freely interbred. From its fiber called fleece, yarns of natural white and gray colors are obtained, through an artisanal and ancestral process very representative of traditional Chilean crafts: the sheep's hair is sheared, washed, chastened and finally spun with the help of a tool called a spindle, an elongated wooden object used to spin textile fibers. It is a trade reserved for women and has been passed on from grandmothers to daughters and from daughters to granddaughters. Women, mostly housewives, who often live in rural areas, and who tend to weave textiles that adapt to the rainy and cold climate of southern Chile.
