Live greener and Plant trees: FAT FOREST uses ingredients that grow naturally in the rainforest and works with the rainforest and its inhabitantsThey make deforestation-free skin care products that are rich in nourishing ingredients, carefully harvested from the rainforest by the local population, without affecting the rainforest. They live and work in balance with nature and play an active role in protecting the richness of the rainforest. In this way it becomes a sustainable source of income for them.

About rainforest conservation

How is the rainforest preserved with the purchase of Fat Forest products?

By purchasing Fat Forest products you contribute to preserving the rainforest on Borneo. This works as follows: Fat Forest has made agreements with 4 villages and 122 farmers, that they will preserve and protect the forests where the illipe trees grow, as long as we buy the illipe nuts they harvest from them at a fair price. Because we buy the illipe nuts, they earn an income from the standing forest, and they can maintain the forest instead of selling it or replacing it with a plantation to earn something from it.

This is only a first step to help the local communities to make ends meet. Together with the communities, Fat Forest investigates which rich ingredients can be harvested from the forest in a responsible way.

How are the m2 protected forest of the products calculated?

The four villages together have a forest cover of 26,635 hectares, of which Fat Forest produces 143.8 tons of illipe butter from the total of the illipe nuts from these four villages, so 5.4 kg per hectare. This equates to 1.85 m2 of rainforest per 1 gram of illipe butter. The amount of rainforest protection is calculated based on the grams of illipe butter contained in each product.

What is sustainable about the Fat Forest products?

Fat Forest products are palm oil-free and consist of 100% natural ingredients. In addition, all products are not tested on animals and contain no microplastics.

They strive to have 100% of the ingredients come from the rainforest. To guarantee product quality, natural ingredients are also added that do not come directly from the rainforest. This is kept to a minimum.

Are the products Fair Trade and organic?

The illipe butter has a Fair for Life certificate and is organically certified. Fair for Life is a quality mark for Fair Trade and Responsible Chains. It is aimed at producers in an economically vulnerable position, such as small farmers.

Fair for Life has requirements that limit the use of chemicals, and moving towards organic farming is strongly recommended. In addition, there are requirements to minimize energy use, limit air and water pollution, and protect natural ecosystems.

Are the products vegan?

All products are cruelty-free and the body cream is vegan. Beeswax has been added to the stick skin bar and to the lip balm to ensure product quality and ease of use. These are therefore not vegan.

Write down your ideas, plant them and watch them flourish! The plantable notebook is an original gift, perfect for any occasion or to treat yourself.

Cover: cotton paper with corn residue.

Interior: plantable recycled cotton textile paper with seeds.

          Size: 21×14.8cm.

Seeds of: carrot and celosia (lattice).

          Your impact

Live greener: the cover of this notebook is printed on paper made from the leaves that wrap the corn cobs, which are discarded and burned in the fields during harvesting. By recovering these residues, the environmental impact of burning them is avoided.

And the notebook has a second life use: the card inside are plantable!

How to plant the paper with seeds?

          1) Put the paper on a plate and cover it with water

          2)
Can't dry! If it dries out, it will not germinate again.

          3) When a few shoots have grown, transplant the paper into a pot filled with soil.

          Tips for planting:

When it comes to watering, in moderation! Excess water is just as harmful as lack. The pot and the soil will absorb any excess water, but the substrate should never be flooded.

It is important that you place the pot in a sunny spot for the seed to germinate. Just as important is the temperature, conditioned by the season of the year: each seed needs a certain temperature range. By the way, be patient! Each seed is a world and not all of them take the same time to come to light.

There will come a point where your plant needs more space. The most recommended thing is to transplant it when it develops two or three pairs of “true” leaves. Be careful, carefully remove the plant ensuring the integrity of the roots (do not pull the stem), and transplant it into a larger pot, watering abundantly to cohere the soil.

How to take care of the plants?

                        Your impact

Give waste a new life: PREVENTS THE CONTAMINATION OF 160m3 OF WATER, thanks to the reuse of vegetable oils that would otherwise be wasted.

With candles made from wasted vegetable cooking oils, you contribute to a greener, healthier, and more sustainable planet. The candles are environmentally friendly products that materialize a circular economy in a domestic environment, that make people of all ages, including children, love their waste!

Save water and oil: in five days, a European citizen consumes an average of 1.000 L of water. On the other hand, for every 1L of wasted vegetable cooking oil, that is not properly recycled, it pollutes 1.000.000 L of water.

Prevent contaminationIn 90% of cases, the wasted cooking oil is poured into the sink. In contact with water, it forms a layer at the top that prevents the absorption of oxygen and sunlight by marine life. It is also difficult to eliminate in the pipelines, causing clogging and, above all, a problem in cleaning the wastewater, which is, therefore, one of the main causes of water contamination.

                        Candles tested by international laboratories.

Light only in a supervised place. Only to be used by adults or under adult supervision. Keep away from children and pets. Always leave at least 10 em between burning candles. Do not burn candles on or near anything that can catch on fire. May cause an allergic reaction. Should not exceed 3h – 4h continuous burning.

Give waste a new life: PREVENTS THE CONTAMINATION OF 150m3 OF WATER thanks to the reuse of vegetable oils that would otherwise be wasted.

African elephants struggle due to poaching, loss of habitat, increased conflict with communities and impacts of climate change. Due to expanding human populations, the ancient migratory routes elephants have walked for generations are being lost. With fewer trees, longer droughts and less space to roam, elephants are frequently coming into closer contact with communities, often with deadly consequences.

The main cause of the species’ decline comes from poachers, who target their horns. Demand for rhino horn has dramatically increased in Asian countries, where it is used in traditional medicine or kept as a sign of status and wealth. A single horn on the black market can command extremely high prices.

With every year we see less and less sea ice on which the polar bears rely heavily for traveling, hunting, resting, mating, and in some areas, maternal dens. A sad story that can be changed. With every tree we plant we reduce 48 pounds of CO2 per year. Every purchased Polar bear bracelet will help us plant 3 trees in the Tanzania forest and with that alone, you just reduce 144 pounds of CO2 per year that can slow down climate change and restore the balance in the Arctic world.
