Compostable phone cases made of 100% renewable raw materials (non-toxic straw biomass) and 0% plasticizers and plastic.
Every year, more than 8 million metric tons of plastics enter our ocean, on top of the estimated 150 million metric tons that already are in our marine environments. It is the equivalent of a garbage truck full of plastic every 60 seconds. Actually, it's probably more. If we don't do something now, there will be more plastic than fish in the world's oceans by 2050.
"Our desire to create is endless, but the earth's resources are no. By up cycling and using compostable materials, we can guarantee both"
UNUYA crossbody phone cases are compostable, made from non-toxic straw biomass and can decompose in a environmentally friendly way under certain conditions such as humidity and temperature within a few weeks. Ropes and belts are made from Econyl yarns, i.e. upcycled plastic. By using compostable materials, no new plastic is produced and when the product has to be discarded, it will decompose quickly!
UNUYA also partners with PRO OCEAN to get 1kg of plastic removed from the riverbanks of Cambodia for every case sold. The project provides fair jobs to the local communities, a steady income and education about environment related topics and upcycling.
The waste that is collected is cleaned and sorted and eventually sold to upcycling companies to be used again.
